Review of The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society (2018) by Mike V — 15 Nov 2018
It would be just a regular, 2.5 stars movie, just by itself. But it is only a pale imitation of the book it comes from. It is normal a movie tells less than its book, but not so normal to change most of the events of story, forget the most impacting scenes, change the character of the main role and her motivations, and the whole stucture of the story.
Good points are the environment (creating a mouse-and-cat detective story which has not sense related to what really happens in the book, we at least see Guernsey and some of its key points), most of the Guernsey characters (although it loses chorality, and Isola is much more crazy in the book), and it is not very bad directed (why there are so many shots of the main actress breathing).
In the end, a little (or much) disappointing.
