The Hangover Part II is a rehash of its predecessor. The same opening in medias res scene where Bradley Cooper makes a phone call followed by opening credits, a missing person who needs to be at the wedding, gangster-themed stuff, the missing person slept through the entire movie, it's all Zach Galifianakis' fault and there's an animal involved.

It results in the lack of all that that made the first film a fresh take on the mystery film genre. However, I still laughed more than expected with this sequel in spite of how much repeating there was.

Ken Jeong steals the show as Leslie Chow and this movie offers the amusing sight of a monkey smoking. The one from the Night at the Museum trilogy, no less. Didn't really like Mike Tyson's cover of "One Night in Bangkok".

..er, I mean you were great Mr. Tyson and you're the best singer to ever exist, please don't hunt me down and kick my ass. The Hangover Part II is criminally overhated but I don't disagree with the fact that it's just the first film, but in Bangkok.

At least we get to see Ed Helms get shocked that he had sex with a transgender woman or, for the sake of having more accurate terminology, a kathoey stripper. It's a Thailand thing. I can only imagine how I'll see Part III since it's apparently an angry revenge thriller with elements of a darkly comical movie.
