Review of The Hangover Part II (2011) by Rob G — 20 Oct 2017
This movie is what happens when you have no idea where to take the story so you resort to rehashing the same idea with heightened stakes. The problem is, the success of The Hangover was based largely around the freshness of the idea and execution. This one feels like leftovers with a new sauce, good enough for some, but not fooling anyone.
This sequel is extremely passable considering the only goal was to push the audience to the verge of cringing. Personally, I felt the balance of cringe and comedy worked extremely well in the first one, but this one forgot that balance and loses the comedy. It has few laughs and never feels worth the time that could have been spent watching the first one.
