Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Albert M — 16 Jan 2016
In my viewing of the film I found it moved at a nice pace. I did however believe that it had a lot of unnecessary filler material. The film could have been 30 minutes shorter. And that adds to my frustration and belief that this trilogy could have been 2 films.
Smaug was killed within the first 20 minutes of the film and the journey to the mountain was drawn out for far too long. The action when it did take place was an awesome visual spectacle. I did very much enjoy the film but in terms of a trilogy I can't accept it because to me it was a forced trilogy.
As a stand alone film I would rank it 4th in the complete 6 film series.
