Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) by Citizenaustin — 21 Nov 2014
To start with they things I loved about this movie, (1) Jennifer Lawrence was fabulous as always. I enjoyed the weak-hero angle to her character. (2) Visually it is very striking and original. Even the real-life sets were very interesting. (3) The most underrated piece of this movie was the makeup. So much attention to detail!
Now on to my problems... (1) Donald Sutherland was somewhat over-the-top in his portrayal of President Snow, as opposed to the quiet subtler character in the first two movies. (2) Lots of exposition in the first act.
All in all it was a very entertaining movie and I would recommend seeing it.
