Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015) by Private U — 12 Jul 2016
I think this was a really good ending to the series. It stayed pretty true to the book - down to the last minutes but the reason the entire series of movies was so good is that the actors brought the story to life.
It could have felt so contrived if not done correctly. I was a late to the party person when it came to this series. I refused to read the books initially because I found the premise so disturbing. Then ended up going to see Catching Fire with friends without having seen the first movie or reading any of the books.
And I fell in love with it all. I think JL does an amazing job portraying Katniss and her unlikely, reluctant journey becoming the symbol of revolution. It must have been a hard character to portray - to strike the right balance - between someone who wants to be indifferent and just get through the horrible experience alive to someone whose personally journey becomes a collective emotive experience and the catharsis for the unfolding story that follows.
But the bottom line for me is that I adore this character. Probably one of my all time favorites and JL portrays Katniss exactly how I imagined her when I read the book.
