Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015) by Sirensoftitan — 22 Nov 2015
This is very likely the worst movie I've ever sat through. It is a example of the dangers of padding.
Disclaimer: I liked the first and second movies.
Hunger Games, with a good script writer and a disciplined director, could have been done in one movie. With that, I think this could have done well as a trilogy as well. There was no reason for Mockingjay to be split into two movies.
I'll quickly explain why this movie was so bad:
* It skipped the climax -- The scene of the confrontation at Snow's residence was glossed over because Katniss was knocked out (about the 4th time in this movie alone).
* Nothing happened -- They used exposition to explain the plot in between short boring action sequences.
* It was stupid -- Many of the plot elements were used to shamelessly jerk the audience around. The performances were so rigid and simple (even Lawrence's high note performance of the show) presumably to placate the lack of intellect of fans of the movies and Suzanne Collin's books.
How the hell did someone mention the cinematography in this movie as being excellent? It was hard to watch it was so comically bad.
Overall, I found myself laughing at many of the 'serious' scenes (like dropping bombs attached to little parachutes at the final battle sequence, really?).
