Review of The Hunting Party (2007) by Matthew C — 04 Jul 2010
Gene Hackman plays a bad man on a quick descent into true evil in this dirty, gritty, ugly western. Oliver Reed is the leader of a salty bunch of toughs and outlaws who are hardly good folk, but seem downright chivalrous in comparison.
The film is hamstrung a bit by the wooden Candice Bergen. A great cast of character actors and some pretty good desolate filming locations help bring the mythological west to life. The violence is sometimes extreme at times and thereâ??s a callous brutality that makes it pretty disturbing.
