Review of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (2017) by Ryan C — 21 Aug 2018
After reading the book and meeting author Rebecca Skloot, I was intrigued to watch the HBO film adaptation about Henrietta Lacks and how her cells changed medicine forever. It's not nearly as in-depth as the source material and it feels a bit rushed, but the message of racial inequality and the advantage and financial gain doctors and pharmaceutical companies took over the Lacks family still comes through in a gripping, heartbreaking way.
