Review of The Innocents (2016) by Stefano C — 15 Jan 2019
The story in this movie carries a lot of pathos and drama, that is why is a shame that nothing else keep up with it, and I mean nothing: acting, art, props, casting, direction. Especially photography and lights seem not to agree with the story told.
From the reviews it does not look like many other watchers were bothered by it, and you might not even notice it (if you are blind), but it has ruined the whole experience to me. "The Innocents" felt like a washed TV drama.
I can only thank Max Richter and his beautiful song for giving some vigor, at least, to the last moments of the film.
