Review of The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz (2014) by Arief B — 24 Jan 2015
It's a movie about a genius and a prodigy using what he's been gifted with to make a difference in his world. With some great archival footage and some insightful interviews, director Brian Knappenberger has crafted a thoroughly engaging and informative documentary.
When you watch as many documentaries as I do it can get tiresome to see the same old, same old tactics used in telling stories, but The Internet's Own Boy overcomes this by simply being so fascinating.
The story of Aaron Swartz's life is so interesting that it's pretty easy for this film to capture your attention and imagination. Maybe it overestimates his impact on the world, but the film is an interesting insight into social change in the digital age.
