Review of The Interpreter (2005) by Allen G — 11 Apr 2013
Strong performances and some nice dialogue isn't enough to save this from the predictable yet bland yet also nonsensical plot that pulls this one straight into the ground and chokes the life out of it.
It doesn't manage to go beyond the thriller genre like it seems to want to but worse still, it doesn't even succeed within it- it's not particularly suspenseful and it's not that interesting either. Kidman and Penn are strong as you would expect but working on this film wasn't their best decision. It's watchable for the performances and the occasional curios moment but it's simply not a good film.
