Review of The Invitation (2016) by Chris C — 18 Apr 2016
In the wake of his son's death and 2 years later being invited back to where it all happened, Will's (Logan Marshall-Green's) instincts are razor sharp in a din of wine and barbituated pleasantries at a dinner party suspect of tampering and of ill conceived intentions.
Over the course of the evening, Will starts connecting the dots and figures out what's going on late in the game, only the viewer gets to understand it at the same time he does. This brilliant psychological thriller by Karyn Kusama ranks right up there with anything I've seen by Hitchcock, Fincher, Lynch or Polanski and the outcome will stick with you for days after.
Best seen after dark and with the lights turned real low. Five stars.
