Review of The Jungle Book (1967) by Lee M — 02 May 2016
The film that contains some of the best character animation of all time. Disney's Nine Old Men in one of their crowning achievements. After Disney's death in 1965, the Nine Old Men had to finish this film without their beloved leader. Just that being fact, this film is an animated gem, one of the very reasons that I became an Animator. It is the embodiment of outstanding character animation. The fine subtleties in character movement shine. The brilliant Shere Kahn animated by legendary Animator Milt Kahl. The refined shoulder movement, I'm getting chills just thing about it. Bagheera's beautiful movements by legendary animator Ollie Johnston as well as Kahl... these animators hit it out of the park with the elegance of the quadruped animation this film contains. Don't even get me started on the brilliance in Mowgli's animation by again ledgendary animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas.
A deserved classic... 5/5!
