I'm a sucker for medieval lore, and coming of age stories with cute underdog kids. I particularly enjoyed the main character Alex and Merlin. I think the story was well written, the characters had a good amount of development throughout and they tackled everyday kid problems right along side the magical enemies (absent father's, bullying).
The action scenes were entertaining, I laughed quite a bit as well, and it even held the interest of my 5 year old daughter at a theater.
