Review of The King's Man (2021) by Umaumai — 19 Feb 2022
I really enjoyed this. It was as entertaining, though in a slightly different way, as the first movie in the franchise. It’s more old school Bond film~esque with a reimagining of some of real world people and very real events. The violence was shocking occasionally and the excellent film making definitely helped to execute and lift some of these moments to a high dramatic effect.
It’s set during the events of the first world war and it uses this setting and period to perfection with the way it’s reimagined. There are a small misdirections that I didn’t see coming and with it several other interesting twists.
The acting and production are really good down to the score and costumes. The only thing that sucks is how long we had to wait for this to come out. It’s finally streaming so if you have HBO max this is definitely something you should watch, just don’t bring the kids. There’s a lot of other adult content other then violence.
