Review of The Lazarus Effect (2015) by Prentice S — 26 Sep 2015
"The Lazarus Effect" was a lot of things, but I can't say that one of them was a "good" movie. In the first place, it was PG-13: no solid horror movie, with core or realistic language, can be rated anything but R or worse.
"The Lazarus Effect" lacked substance, mostly because it relied on a star power cast and didn't develop enough of a story to support it. Mark Duplass and Olivia Wilde are both capable actors, but neither could make this story work.
The call-back to Zoe's (Wilde) childhood was bust- it was predictable and boring. The effects were so-so, with nothing really interesting to add to the genre. This one could have be avoided, were hindsight my super power.
