Review of The Lazarus Effect (2015) by Caleb C — 26 Feb 2015
I'm sort of a sucker for horror movies, I will not lie to you here. I usually enjoy most of them and there have been rare occasions in the last year where I wasn't fully in liking with these types (e.
G. Annabelle (2014) and Ouija (2014) -- these examples being terribly average for myself even though, I did sort of like them but almost didn't) Anyways, for me, this is the horror movie of the year so far.
It was relentlessly effecting for myself on some personal levels which I will leave out here as to avoid any spoilers. I will say this though, if you are religious or have been religious in any way in your life ever, there is a chance this movie will shake you to the bone like it did for me.
I am still shaking as I write this review and even thinking about it still gives me the chills. I also love it that this one that could have a sequel but it also doesn't NEED to have one. I love it just the way it is, and this might be a stretch for me to say, but it is probably very close to being my favorite film of the year so far, but maybe slides into my second favorite of the year so far which is a high compliment in my books.
My other friends that were at the screening with me didn't like it as much as me though, so this is another thing to take into account. A couple of them said it was "ok" and or "just alright" and "pretty good, but not great", along those lines and another one didn't like it all and said he was falling asleep through part of it which, I didn't entirely understand but everyone is different after all.
For me personally and my opinion overall is this is a must-see this year and something definitely worth seeing if you are a fan of horror movies at all.
