If you know golf, if you understand the difficulty of the game, if you can transfer the lessons it was trying to convey; then you will love the movie. It has it's moments of duplicity, like when Theron's character pulls him aside during the last round, the opposite of the lesson of seeing the field was attempting to convey (ask Tiger how well outside influence can crush someone's game.

). If you don't play the game, or are happy to struggle your way through a round because time with friends is why you are there, then Bagger Vance isn't for you. If you do play, and you are close to making the jump from the plateau of "decent", to the level of respected.
