Review of The Little Mermaid (2023) by Akomplice — 29 May 2023
Disney just needs to stop with these live action remakes. This review has nothing to do with politics or anything like that. I didn’t enjoy this movie or ANY of the changes they made to the original story, the music was disappointing, the casting was misguided at best, dialogue below mediocre.
I wanted to give it a fair shot, like I have all the live action remakes and every time I’m shocked at how bad they are. I set my bar pretty low and Disney somehow manages to undershoot by miles. Just stop, stop ruining everything and focus on creating good/new stories.
I still believe you’re capable of it, despite all evidence to the contrary. To be honest I wanted to give it a zero out of 10 but that wouldn’t be fair. I’m sure most of the people including the cast worked very hard on this, it’s not their fault it was a massively disappointing mess.
