Review of The Little Prince (2015) by Amanda C — 26 Nov 2017
Adaptation is always a difficult task, especially when the source material is as wonderfully magical as The Little Prince. In this case, the filmmakers were smart enough to know that a direct replica of the original story wasn't going to work.
The result is a delightful film, which captures the joy of the novel, but also gives it a fresh take and gives the story of The Little Prince a contemporary context of children being overscheduled and overworked.
It's a beautiful film, with fantastic animation, particularly the stop motion of The Little Prince's tale. It gives the story a physical weight while keeping the fantastical, mythical quality.
Just like the book, the film will reawaken the child in even the most stubborn adult, opening their eyes to all the amazing things just in front of our noses.
