This is a typical Nicholas Sparks storyline with two intertwined plots that parallels past and present events, which is done very well, creating an emotional ending on-par with "The Notebook".
Sophia is on her way to Manhattan to pursue a career in art when she meets Luke, a bullrider looking to comeback from injury. On a date, they rescue the elderly Ira. During her visits to him in hospital, Sophia is charmed by Ira's stories of life with his wife Ruth.
.Scott Eastwood (son of Clint) is a great leading male actor and Allan Alda gives a touching performance in reflection of his life and love.
