Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) by Danny O — 13 Aug 2015
The Return of the King is the definition of epic. The battle sequences are phenomenal and very well shot. Just when I thought the Lord of the Rings series couldn't be any more satisfying, this movie came.
This movie does perfectly what some series cannot, wrap up all the plot points from the previous films, deliver fantastic action, fully develop all character arcs, and provide all the entertainment one could possibly have at the movies.
It even packs an emotional punch, as Frodo reaches Mount Doom to complete his quest once and for all. Jackson's passion for filmmaking is truly felt throughout the whole 3 hour 21 minute movie. For such a long film, I was never bored and was 100% invested in every story and every battle that was occurring.
It has a magnificent score, wonderful characters, beautiful emotional bonds, and some of the most breathtaking and phenomenal battles ever put to film. This is my favorite movie of all time for a reason, I can't thin of anything wrong with this unforgettable masterpiece.
It will more than satisfy those wanting an epic blockbuster and critics looking for a perfectly made film.
