Review of The Man Who Knew Infinity (2016) by Sujit O — 29 Apr 2016
A film that had the capability to be something alongside 'The Theory of Everything' and 'Good Will Hunting' but sadly doesn't even come close. For this I solely blame the director Matthew Brown who is simply too much of an amateur to produce anything worthwhile. The entire film could easily be restructured and edited to bring it to a 40 minute short. Actually it surprises me how the studio allowed the release of this cut of the film. Dev Patel did a poor job while Jeremy Irons was decent. The casting was so bad that no two characters had any chemistry whatsoever (especially Ramanujan and his wife). All in all a terrible effort that deserves no praise at all.
P.S. While showing native Indian characters in India don't make them speak in english, it just does not work( unless you're Danny Boyle).
