Review of The Many Saints of Newark (2021) by Valbal — 17 Oct 2021

I thought it was a great standalone movie about Dickie Moltisanti. The problem is that it was advertised as Tony Soprano origins story and a lot of people were expecting Tony to be a lead character. And oh how many comments have I read of fans expecting this and that and so on.

I came in to see this film with no expectations and I was satisfied. David Chase keeps refusing fans to make a tv series but many of us who liked the film can't help but see this as a series and these two episodes were great but where is the rest of the season? While it feels like a complete story of its lead character the movie very openly sets up Tony as the protagonist of the possible sequel.
