Dug this out and watched it for the first time in ages after catching up with the Jason Statham remake. Still good, but it shows its age a bit and I prefer the modern makeover. I also realise that one of my favourite Dave Allen sketches (the sniper) might be based on the opening scenes of The Mechanic, because it is almost exactly contemporaneous, all be it it ends differently.
