Review of The Menu (2022) by Fuad_Rmnm — 20 Nov 2022
Great cast but not a great movie! BUT, is still good to watch.
Director & the cast are great actors in the Hollywood industry. Sadly, they didn’t deliver a great movie. This movie is about a luxurious dinin exp on a private island where only a private guest that could make a reservation. Various guest backgrounds start from a successful businessman to a washed-up celeb. And the main arc is about the truth if actually they’re deliberately chosen as the guest because of ominous facts.
The main pros, this is so a fancy movie and has a nice theme. I am lovin it! Another thing to love is the great cast which is including rising Hollywood actors, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult. Next thing, a pretty intense movie with a thrilling ambiance for the audience. Also, it is a perfectly very detail-oriented movie. This perfectly describes the work ethic of a chef's life. Lastly, this movie is so short! Less than 2 hrs, easy to fill out a Lil bit of free time.
Sadly, the rushed plot is the biggest mistake. Firstly, still good plot, an abstract plot which is slowly but surely revealed the puzzle. Then, oddly rushed from a slow-paced & quiet ambiance to a very intense pace & thrilling ambiance. This arc is very hard to enjoy. And ofc, if the movie is fulfilled with an odd story arc it will ruin every pro of the movie, rite?
However, even though this movie isn’t so great, but its fulfilled with a great cast. Besides, a perfect explanation of a chef’s life. Lastly, the theme is good and this movie is so quick. These could be a reason to watch. This movie is still good to watch and nothin’ to lose, rite?!
7/10.
