Review of The Menu (2022) by Mauro_Lanari — 17 Jan 2023
(Mauro Lanari).
Distributed by the Walt Disney Company, McKay and Ferrell team up again for an analysis of hierarchical subjugation as in "FMJ" (Kubrick 1987) and of social one as in "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and the Lover" (Greenaway 1989). We should thank them just for reminding us of the abyss between the glorious season of those auteur dramas and these surrogates always watered down by the subgenres of black comedy and popcorn horror. "It functions like an epicurean salon". "No, I like a sort of biome of culinary ideas better I think".
