Review of The Mission (1986) by Joshua F — 16 May 2008
Not a bad movie.
I'm not really one to really soak in the score of a movie, but this one was fantastic. I loved the very indigenous sounding woodwind playing. Kudos, Ennio Morricone. The scenery was also gorgeous. I loved the location they shot around--the waterfalls.
The stars of this movie are Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro, as the opening credits suggest. They don't do a bad job. Also, see Maurice from GoodFellas play the villain, Cabeza.
Good job, Roland Joffé, for creating a pretty accurate and authentic feel of native South America. I felt like I was watching National Geographic and the History channel all in one.
I wanna leave you with some acclamations: #1 Top Religious Movie of all time, "Church Times". #23 Best Original Score, American Film Institute.
