Review of The Moth Diaries (2011) by Roxanne R — 01 Nov 2012
This one reminded me of Lost and Delirious with Piper Perabo. I like vampire films and this one wants to emulate LeFanu's novel Carmilla. For those viewers unfamiliar with the novel, it was published in 1872, and tells the story of a young woman's susceptibility to the attentions of a female vampire named Carmilla.
I had to read it for one of my college course electives (Literature and the Occult). Anyways back on track- story takes place in a boarding school where Rebecca's (Bolger) friendship with Lucy (Gadon) is broken by the arrival of a mysterious new student named Ernessa (Lily Cole).
Kudos to the makeup team that worked on Lily Cole because she looked strange, ethereal quality to her. Anyways, Rebecca's jealousy of the new friendship makes her want to spy on Ernessa and she begins to wonder if Ernessa is a vampire.
As the number of strange deaths commence to increase and Lucy's life is in danger, Rebecca takes matters into her own hands in order to save Lucy but can she do it..Can she break the spell Ernessa has placed Lucy under? You have to watch the film and it was quite entertaining.
