Review of The Muppets (2011) by Kay K — 08 Jan 2013
With self-confessed puppet fanatic Jason Segel as the brains behind this operation, this film was always going to be fantastic - a children's film made so wonderfully for adults.
The basic idea of the film is that the Muppets have to reunite to save their old theatre from the clutches of an evil oil baron. The main players are spread out across the country (and the world) and Segel must find them, along with his partner Mary, played by Amy Adams and his puppet brother Walter. There are so many hilarious cameos, including Jack Black, Neil Patrick Harris and Emily Blunt and the music is just second-to-none.
It's quite obvious Bret McKenzie of Flight of The Concords fame is behind many of the songs, including Man or Muppet which has been nominated for an Oscar. There are so many hilarious ongoing jokes, one-liners and silly references that you won't want it to end.
