In one of the few conversations of the movie, one of the characters says to another one: "if she weren't beautiful, you wouldn't have noticed her". A sentence like this probably can be said on any person on Earth, but perfectly describes The Neon Demon.
The movie is a filmed magazine for 1h30 minutes, during which we are continuously flashed by colors and lights and silences. But behind this, everything is empty, superficial, like the world that the director tries to photograph for us.
it's beautiful, because otherwise you wouldn't notice it.
