I spent the first 30 minutes gripping the armrests, believing I wouldn't make it to the end of the film, and then the second act came and everything turned into a dumb comedy.

Yet, in the moment of delivering harsh criticisms, I still confidently recommend you to watch this movie.

Starting with sound and visual, I have to admit that Corin Hardy and his team have an excellent handle on the visual language of horror movies.

Although the movie feels like a collection of cliche horror scene, there are always something that distinguish itself from the rest making it worth studying.

And that's about that because it all goes down in the second act.

Complex setups and clever payoffs seem to be the strength of the Conjuring franchise, which this movie doesn't have the latter.

For starters, this "thing" they are fighting with is either a zombie, a werewolf, or Catwoman, because you can shoot it, cut its head off, or spit on it, but it is surely not an evil spirit since it doesn't seem to be effected by the cross or any prayer.

Do I regret watching this movie? Absolutely not.

If you're looking for the comedy at the level of Sharknado, this is a must watch because "The Nun" is funnier than Ant-man and the Wasp.
