Review of The Nun (2018) by Adam S — 12 Sep 2018
After loving Annabelle: Creation, and the conjuring series in general, I was very excited for this movie to come out. Plus, the build up of the character thought the Conjuring movies, made you really want a back story to one of the main antagonists.
However, having high expectations for this movie was a mistake. Even though A:C last year was exciting and nerve inducing, and the magnificence on the directors part, this movie went into the mainstream of today's horror standards.
Instead of learning the positives from previous films, it seems as if they had no correlation. The Nun falls into the same hole as most horror movies nowadays, where instead of building tension and suspense, they throw a bunch of jump-scares at you and think that it's the same.
I do believe that there were some good qualities to this movie, and being a fan of the series I can say it certainly wasn't the worst of them. But just because they've established a certain fan base, doesn't mean they shouod be complacent and lack in what they've certainly achieved in the past.
