Review of The Party's Just Beginning (2018) by Aaron H — 09 Nov 2018
Karen Gillan's directorial debut is not without issues, but still more than manages to convey the unique suffering caused by suicide. The performances were incredible from the whole cast and there was an incredibly human feeling to the whole film.
My only complaint is it felt like there was more to some of the characters than what we were shown, the film is set so much is Liusaidh's head that we miss out on some of the other character's motivations and their actions are left unexplained.
It could be argued that this just does more to put the viewers into Liusaidh's dazed and isolated experience of the world, but there is such a thing as too much ambiguity.
