Review of The Phantom Carriage (1921) by Jarett B — 05 Feb 2012
The special FX for the time must have been astonishing, but it's merely overlapping images to us now. I feel that the story that the film is based on would be darker somehow. It's Swedish and all, and doom n' gloom lurk all through its entirety, but there is a sense of hope the pervades and, unfortunately, doesn't work for me.
