If it had been a straightforward remake or a remake with a more embroidered storyline then great. As it was though it seemed to fall between two stools. There were a couple of subplots which seemed to not go anywhere or add anything to the story.
Lacked the suspence of the original somehow. A missed opportunity. On the plus side though I think it is complementary to the original in that someone did try to remake it.
