Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Jake A — 16 Jul 2017
Even though this sequel to the surprisingly great first film lacks that films overall originality and it is a bit on the long side it is an ultimately better film. This is down to the fact that the plot is a lot more complex and engrossing and the action is even better.
The film also manages to juggle both elements extremely well thanks to solid pacing and a great lead performance by Iko Uwais. The action itself is better than the previous film because it not only expands upon it (there is a great car chase for instance) but thanks to the fact Iko Uwais' character is not the only one we follow in certain fights which changes it up as they all have different fighting styles.
It also looks great, I like the score and the fight scenes are extremely well edited which gives them plenty of style and makes them even more entertaining.
