Stripped of the brutal minimalism of its predecessor, "The Raid 2" follows the formula of an extensive crime saga; a sequel that isn't only larger in size and scope, but more refined in its approach, with the grace to add more character and plot development with its increased levels of violent chaos.
It serves the appropriate alternative to formulaic and mindless PG-13 mainstream action fare, with bloody action sequences retaining thoughtful and artistic construction and absolutely superb execution.
