Review of The Remains of the Day (1993) by Steve H — 04 Dec 2010
All right, having wasted so much time seeing it, I will save myself the time of writing a review too, and will simply quote one with which I agree on every point:
"In a movie about wasting your life... Well, this is 134 minutes I'll never get back. Very fine acting, very relevant things to say, and yet, this movie failed to engage me. I can do with little dialogue and subtle plot, I can deal with a movie that leaves its point a mystery to be solved, but this was just unsatisfying. It so thoroughly portrayed waste, the movie itself feels like a waste; it almost makes you wonder what the point of it was. I know, and yet, it seemed totally lacking.".
