Review of The Remains of the Day (1993) by Mike W — 24 Aug 2017
A 'very good' movie is transformed to 'excellent' largely because of Sir Anthony Hopkins, whose devotion to the minutiae of being a butler, particularly in the unswerving, unthinking nature of his service, is tough to watch.
The final moments of the film offer a surprising kind of twist; that the Remains Of The Day is in fact not a drama so much as a tragedy. Extremely well done.
