Review of The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1995) by Mark D — 31 May 2010
In this there was too much chainsaw and not enough massacre which is my clever way of saying that it was threatening but nothing much came of these threats. In this film the family has complete control and you always feel that they have control and will have control whereas in the first film you were left thinking that the family had no control and were just like the victims - dealing with a situation. It is hard to say whether this one or the third in the series is worse. The second is the best sequel. This one made no sense at the end at all. It is like they wanted to do something different but had no idea what they wanted to do. Renée Zellweger is fit in it and a good actress as are the others in the film but the story and lake of actual chainsaw violence makes this a disappointing waste of time. More chainsaw killing needed.
In one word: Bad.
