Review of The Ruling Class (1972) by Private U — 24 Apr 2008
Very dark comedy, original story that is such a weird concept but pulled off pretty nicely. Peter O'Toole becomes the new Earl after his father accidentally kills himself (in a pretty funny sequence).
The problem is, O'Toole believes himself to be God. Such a great performance from him, I didn't mind that some of the moments were a little too weird (like the electric fight between the two "Gods").
But anyway, some pretty memorable moments. And a little tidbit, the British actor Jason Carter that I got to work with on a B horror movie this past winter told me that Peter O'Toole's performance in this film is what inspired him to be an actor.
Pretty cool.
