Review of The Sea of Trees (2016) by Shawn R — 29 Aug 2018
Hard to understand the negative reviews of this film. True, not a typical western movie concept and for those preferring to detach from life in all its stages, perhaps not entertainment per se. Yet this film is about life in its fullness, as well as what can happen when emptiness is the daily experience.
Beautifully and sensitively performed, well casted including the forest itself as a cast member full of metaphor and spirituality. Art is both entertainment and expression, or better said, emotion. Understandable that there are those for whom these emotions are incompatible with their concept of entertainment, but for those who can, this is an uncommonly thoughtful and full treatment of a universal issue.
