Based on James Thurber's short story about a man trying to escape his reality through a series of elaborate daydreams, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, starring Ben Stiller, follows the journey of a middle-aged negative asset manager at LIFE magazine. The movie and the story were similar because they both had the same main character, Walter Mitty, who has daydreams. They are different because the story id very vague on Walter's real-life and spends more time in daydreams while the movie focuses more on his real-life and looking for negative 25. N the movie, the storyline is better because it is more interesting and had more conflicts. In the story, you could hear more of Walter's thoughts.

The plot of the movie was very interesting and inspirational. It gave an example of how Walter knew he had a boring life and didn't do very much. When he went to Greenland, it started a journey of his now adventurous life. He no longer was the boring and dazed Walter who everyone knew.

The movie is related to the story only by Walter's daydreams. In the story he lived a boring life going into town with his wife and would daydream only when he was bored. In the movie Walter goes on a journey to find negative 25. The conflict in the movie is far more interesting than the story.

The background music fit perfectly with each scene it was in. while Walter is hiking through the Himalayas or riding his bike on the roads in Iceland perfectly complimented the scene and added an encouraging feel. The music was subtle but left a great impact on the movie.

The life lesson this story is trying to teach is that you only live once and to live everyday to the fullest. It was successful showing this because it showed Walter's amazing journey through reality. People who like adventurous/comedic movies would like The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Others who don't like looking at scenery and backgrounds shouldn't see this. This movie would be rated PG because of its inspiration for all ages.
