Review of The Sentinel (2006) by Sein-Yat C — 28 Jan 2009
The weakest link probably is the ex-KGB's plot against a president that you want to have a much stronger attachment of feelings to it, this ties to the sub-plot of 1st lady's affair, maybe a president that's aware of the affair with his bodyguard yet put the country's interest as top priority will help improve on the tension for the assassination plot.
kiefer and michael's male-romance played out quite well, but merit to their acting rather than character development, didnt get much help from the script side either. the mole mystery was not necessary or played-out too long as it didnt add-on to the thrill nor gives depth to the plot but was sort of an annoying element which the plot eventually didnt feed on anyway to illustrate the extensiveness of the KGB's network-of-influence during the cold-war era.
kim basinger was a pleasant surprise reprising the role of a 1st lady having to dealt with power and love, but the power side could have been more, but not necessary unless for DVD release. overall watchable but just short of fulfilling a much greater potential.
