While The Shallows gradually becomes even more unrealistic and exaggerated, it is wrong to say that it is not one bit suspenseful, what with the presence of a sly, aggressive shark. The shark-attack story may be nothing new, but a modernized take on a survival horror-drama really puts the tension even further to more perilous waters.
