Review of The Shock Doctrine (2009) by Scott R — 17 Jul 2010
Disappointing doco but an enjoyable lecture. I'm presently reading Klein's book with the same name and loving it. Such an interesting and profoundly disturbing read. Because the book is a little bit of a tome I had high expectations that this doco would be just as entertaining and insightful but much easier to consume. The kind of film I could give to interested friends who were not up for reading a 466 page detailed explanation of the terror Milton Freedman and the Chicago School of Economics has unleashed on the world.
This doco is basically just a lecture Klein gave Britain. Don't get me wrong I think Klein is a good presenter and this is a good speech. But as for a doco, being talked at for over an hour is just boring.
