Review of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015) by Clem666 — 05 Aug 2023
More than ten years after the first resplendent SpongBob movie, Mike Mitchell & Paul Tibbitt assemble in a TM-work to craft a sequel. A sequel that is a rifle of ostentatious jokes packed in a scenario as disturbing as confusing mixing live action, cartoon and 3D images. The story is a mess of friendship songs, uncontained rage, random storytelling and weird characters. It ges in every direction, and non of them seems better than the others. What about this dolphin?
Concerning the jokes, and I think this should be the main point on a SpongeBob movie, they are quite lame. Given their number, some of them obviously had to make me laugh a little, but that's at the expense of many others based on fart noises and repetitive SpongeBob laughter. I know this is a passed debate, but why did they have to change his laugh? The oldest was simply the best. And did anyone really want to see Eugene Krabs wear a SM leather suit? Because it also is what this movie offers. This movie just take kids for little idiots. Don't make the same mistake.
