The concept was poorly executed. Had the protagonists displayed logic, rather than floundering around, their plight might have been much more convincing. As it is, with all the crawling around on the ground, leaving the woman alone, etc.
, the protagonists just seem stupid, one irrational move after another. No wonder she didn't want to marry him.
